My mom and I headed out to Marfa brimming with inspiration and new ideas and methods we wanted to explore. We were making the long drive to Marfa and took some backroads along the way. Soon we reached a land of brushy sandhills and eery see-sawing oil pumps. It was perfect, we knew it was exactly what we needed. We pulled over on the side of the road, lassoed our chihuahuas to the steering wheel, layed our suitcases out on the side of the dirt road and did an impromptu styling session. It was insane and hilarious, but such a magical moment for us both.

Wearing vintage clothing from Feathers boutique in Austin. That striped sweater is 80s Givenchy Sport and the skirts are 70s.

Valentino was one of my very favorite collections from last week. I'm a huge Valentino fan and have also been crazy, crazy insane about their other line RED Valentino since it debuted a year ago. Red Valentino is so full blown, an unbending vision existing totally in its own space. I think what they've done is so admirable for a diffusion line today. I'm a complete sucker for sweater sets and they always do the cutest ones!

I have seen so many pictures of Jenna Lyons wearing the Chimala jeans lately! I love the way she styles them. It inspires me to play with mine more. I am so glad I got these jeans, I debated for a year on them before I took the plunge and got them in November. I am getting my wears worth out of them! Nothing like 100% cotton denim. One day I'm going to post a huge rant about how much I hate stretchy jeans but that is another post for another day. You can get a pair yourself at Madewell.com and for those who have asked, they do run true to size!

Love Kate's style. It's so simple that it makes you think "Why didn't I think of that?". Of course, on Kate it's transformed into something special. She always has the best jeans too.

Endlessly fascinating Edie Sedgwick...a fragile, beguiling woman who met her end too soon. Her life seemed so glamorous on the surface but underneath she was all suffering. There wasn't much to the 'Edie' look--a simple shift or leotard with heaps and heaps of costume jewelry piled on. But she had the je ne sais quoi to make it iconic. Loved revisiting her style and life while I made these collages this weekend.

I am really inspired looking through the Hermès archives recently. It was so good when Jean Paul Gaultier was doing and it and Christophe Lemaire has done a really wonderful job there too. Actually a lot of these photos are from his debut F/W 2011 collection there. He achieved something there that no one else could dream to touch on. I am so happy to be revisiting it.

The best way to do things is the easiest way...especially when it comes to dressing yourself. You could combine these items any which way and it would be a cute look. I'm using this as a recipe sheet for myself next time I'm out of outfit ideas. And yes, I'm all about sweatpants right now. Check my Pinterest for evidence.

Cut-off shorts and black tights are one of my favorite outfit recipes. It's an instant good look!! I've been anxiously waiting for the proper weather to wear them..no one wants to be the girl in opaque tights on a balmy day. I love Alexa Chung's tights + shorts look above. Such an easy and cute outfit.

All The Pretty Birds, Mr. Newton, and the Sartorialist!

Evidence of my shorts + tights love. I go for peekaboo pockets!! Double cute. Worn here with a nude v-neck cashmere sweater c/o of Equipment, a scarf c/o of Chan Luu, a Denim & Supply by Ralph Lauren belt,  Yves Saint Laurent sunglasses, and Anine Bing boots.

My friend and I were talking about how hard it is to find tights that dont have some weird support hose thing going on. Sometimes I don't mind that look, but if you do, try Hue tights! I think American Apparel tights are good too.

Happpy election day! I am getting ready to DJ an election party tonight, woohoo!
