Sea of Shoes: A Pretty Day to Walk a Poodle

Sea of Shoes: A Pretty Day to Walk a Poodle

The last picture makes me laugh so much. My mom's maltipoo Shelly had just gotten groomed and this time her haircut was a little more souped up than usual. Shelly was quite taken with her new look so my mom and I took her to lunch so she could show off. She behaved like a perfect lady! Which was a little shocking, to be honest. Shel is kind of a wild woman.

Wearing Rag & Bone ripped skinny jeans, Zara blazer, Chan Luu blouse (c/o), vintage mens western ankle boots, and vintage hat.

Vintage Chanel Jackets + Boyfriend Jeans Three Ways

I have been really excited to share this series! I did three looks with three different vintage Chanel jackets, all with the Chimala denim ankle pants. I'm not exaggerating when I say I'm in love with these jeans.

First off is the classic black & white boucle Chanel jacket. Worn with a vintage flower brooch, Martin Margiela yellow puffer clutch, and Balenciaga sandals.

Next is a emerald tweed epaulette Chanel jacket, worn with the Chimala jeans, a lace camisole, vintage jewel necklace, enamel bracelets, and Dries Van Noten beaded sandals.

Finally, a classic cropped black & white vintage Chanel jacket with a massive Hanna Bernhard ram brooch, Monroe tissue tank, 1930s beaded necklace and 1970s beaded choker, Chimala jeans, and Chanel tulle bowtie booties.

Now here comes some real style!! While we were shooting this story, my mom's neighbors walked by with their fabulous 7 year old poodle Tasha. She's my new fashion icon. I want a pink afro and a black polo shirt now too.

If you've been following my blog for a while you might be familiar with my dog crew (Melanie and Jimmy) and my mom's dogs (Kim, Shelly, Miss Figgerbubbles, Townsend, and Staci). Life feels very dog-centric these days. We've just arrived in Austin with Miss Figgerbubbles and Jimmy (pictured above) in tow. The rest are safe with their respective babysitters. We love to stay at the W because they are so dog friendly!

I have to show you Shelly's pretty new haircut below. My mom loves to get her groomed like a princess as it is such a hilarious contrast to her tomboy personality.

Wearing an H&M skirt (similar here and here), red sweater, and the shoes I designed for Schutz.

Here is a breakdown of what I'm wearing:

Jeans: c/o of Koral, perfect cropped skinny jean!

Turtleneck: Junya Watanabe F/W 2006

Lamb wool vest: Zara

Turquoise fringe necklace: 1970s Pauline Trigere

Ankle boots: c/o of Pamela Love, these are the boots she designed for Nine West! I love them so much. My friends Stevie and Erin have them too so now we're a gang.

Melanie is not the shy, retiring delicate flower that she was when we found her. She is quite the dare devil these days. Every morning at 7 am I am awoken by her pouncing on me and attacking my feet. I feel terrible for my sister and my boyfriend--they are her favorite targets. She's a good girl when its just the two of us! She's rarely two feet away from me--definitely a mommy's girl.

Dressing Room Hijinks and More

Ahh, what a week! Yesterday I was so happy to get out of my work cave and go spend some time with my family. We had so much fun taking my sister to the mall and watching movies all night  now that she is home. I tried on a few things myself...I have fall fashion fever, someone cure me!! All items available at Neiman Marcus.

My followers on Instagram voted the little black A.L.C. dress a clear winner.

I tried on THAT Isabel Marant dress!! So Texas.

My actual outfit I wore. Patchwork jeans by Maison Scotch and Vince knit sweater.

The graphic leather panels on these Rag & Bone pants were very 70's racer cartoon--I like with the sneakers!

This Alice & Olivia groupie coat--had to  just slip it on. Cha cha!

I snagged these Golden Goose sneakers on sale a while ago and I am so happy I did. This version of them is next on my want list.

A shot from inside my apartment yesterday morning. I'm kind of a brass & gold person.

Sweet Melanie, she hates to get out of bed in the morning, poor thing.

A delicious chocolate mousse from La Fiorentina on Sunday! It tasted as good as it looks!

Haha--okay, this is an oldie but a goody. Townsend checking out my portrait of him as a dog celebrity.

I have had so many questions about who designed these boots, and I hate to break it to you guys, but they are vintage. Got them in Austin! Boots of a lifetime, for sure.

Another thing I've had a lot of emails about: this faux fur is by DKNY, and you can still get it here! It's super cute for layering, and the perfect weight for schizophrenic Texas winters.

Till next time!

When Valentino wrote me to tell me that my mom and I were going to be the lucky recipients of a special shoe gift, it was like Christmas and a birthday wrapped into one! Every day we waited for the Fedex truck, saying "This is the day! The Valentinos will be here!". This went on for almost two weeks and then we started to get a little concerned. The shoes were stuck in customs and after much ado, they finally arrived. Phew!

These beautiful shoes given to us by Valentino are part of a limited collection of 100 pairs. They are all sold out now unfortunately. I am beyond grateful to have a pair in my closet to call my own--thank you so much to the Valentino team!  (P.S. if you are a fan of these shoes, get a load of the rockstud flats....aren't they dreamy!)

Wearing a faux fur leopard jacket by DKNY, Rag & Bone for Intermix jeans, white tank, RRL d-ring belt, a patchwork leather Dolce & Gabanna bag, and a quartz lollipop necklace c/o Ippolita, and sunglasses by Tory Burch.

We decided to throw a little party at my mom's house to celebrate the addition of Melanie to the doggy family! We did it with a birthday cake because that's the only dog cake we could find, but are there really any rules about when doggy birthday cakes are appropriate?? Melanie didn't think so! Kim and Mel are wearing matching polka dotted Martha Stewart coats we got at Petsmart. Gotta love embarrassing your dogs!

I love Melanie so much, I am so lucky to have found her! She is feeling a little down today, because she got spayed yesterday. Poor baby. We're having a nice relaxing girls day in.
