Things have been so busy since I moved, I haven't had time to make the usual run to Sephora and for a while I was living out of sample packets. Now that I have the luxury of being close to a Whole Foods, I decided to try a couple of their beauty products and have made some amazing discoveries that I had to share.

I get a lot of questions from fellow faux-redheads about how to make their color last...I tried mixing Manic Panic in with my conditioner but that was a flop. Some of the color-depositing shampoos can make your color much darker too. I think I have finally found the perfect combo of shampoo and conditioner to make the red last without changing the color. The Shikai Color Reflect Warm Shampoo I found at Whole Foods does wonders for the auburn tones in my hair. I have used Aveda Madder Root Color Conditioner for a long time because it makes my hair so soft and deposits beautiful color.

I cannot believe how great some of these skin care products are!! I feel like I have a new face since I've been using them.

I'm particularly in love with Andalou Naturals Probiotic + C Renewal Cream. For me the point of any skincare regimen is to keep your skin drenched with moisture all day long and this cream will keep your skin saturated and dewy all day long, without the grease. I think for the price it is an INCREDIBLE product! The Andalou Naturals Facial Scrub Lemon Sugar is the perfect consistency for exfoliation. I am loving their mandarin vanilla body lotion too! I don't think you can go wrong with this line, and it won't break the bank. Can't wait to try the day cream I just got.

I love using skincare with Vitamin C (I exfoliate with Emergen-C packets when I travel) and the Avalon Organics Balancing Vitamin C Facial Toner does some pretty amazing things. I'm not going to pretend I know what photo-aging defense is, but I'll take it.

I'm liking the pineapple enzyme facial cleanser and sugar body polish from Alba--again, great products for a totally reasonable price. Looks like I won't be making the trip to Sephora any time soon after all!

Kim says her skin is a little dry and she needs some day cream ;) What a helpful product tester she is!

...to do something different. I imagine these are quite polarizing...personally, I am all about the shoes for fall 2012. Particularly the orangey leather mary janes with geometric printing. I am a 70's girl at a heart!

More of My Apartment

It's coming along, as you can see! Unfortunately these two great chairs I found at Again & Again were not in these photos because they had to be repaired--I'll just have to reshoot when they get back. My mom was very kind to loan me the tall acupuncture girl sculpture that used to live in our old house. She looks good in my place!

My Hanna Bernhard mouse pendant and a cute little camel.

Base of the amazing floor lamp I got at Lula B's.

In Barney's Spring Campaign

It is a great honor to be among the eight amazing women featured in Barney's spring campaign 'Tree Time', shot by Mario Sorrenti, and starring Penelope Tree. This one of those things that I find hard to believe I'm posting...I was a little terrified of being in front of the camera, but the shoot ended up being  such a blast and a memory I will hold dear for a very long time.

Check out the Window for a behind the scenes video of the shoot!

I seem to wear black mid-calf boots more than anything else in my closet, so when these mid-calf buckled Giuseppe Zanotti boots popped up on Yoox, I couldn't resist them. I've worn them every day since they got here. Mid-calf boots go with everything and are the most flattering shoe you can wear...how could I say no to these guys??

Wearing my favorite jeans, a Rugby tweed blazer, thrifted silk blouse, and my favorite men's belt from Lucky. Holding the ever-needy Kim ;)

Giuseppe Zanotti's boot game is out of control, he always does things that surprise me. Like the Barbarealla-esque ankle boots with the metal cuff below? Soo beautiful.

2. Giuseppe Zanotti open toe metal ankle cuff bootie

3. Giuseppe Zanotti 'Sharon' booties

4. Giuseppe Zanotti ivory half boots

My Mom's Place

As I've mentioned before, my mom has just moved into her new place and I am in LOVE with it. It's already changed a lot since we snapped these...take a look at her blog to see how it's coming along!

Illustrated by Megan Inghram

When I came across this illustration by Megan Inghram, my jaw hit the floor. It really is too amazing for words--I cannot believe how many personal details are hidden in it! I'm holding my chihuahua Kim, wearing my vintage tiger dress and Fantastic Mr. Fox hat, sitting on top of my cat Gish who is wearing my octopus necklace and has my artwork printed on her chest!! All of my shoes and dogs and toys are in there too. I love Megan's whimsical portrait style. You can check out more of her work on her beautiful Tumblr and you can buy her prints here. Thank you so much Megan!
