AUSTIN DIARIES

As I mentioned in my last post, we were in Austin this weekend to check out the Vintage Glamporium show. We love any excuse to get up to Austin, and we knew with the line-up of vendors at the show, the shopping was going to be amazing. It did not dissapoint-it was a magical vintage candy land! I'm still dreaming of some of the things we left behind... Masha from Feathers boutique organized it, so of course it was incredible. I can't wait to share some of the crazy things we found.

On our drive down to Austin we hit up Style Station. Its a must-stop for road trips, I found the perfect 70's 505s and lots of cool tees and blouses.

Below are some pics from the Vintage Glamporium.

I love this display from Laced With Romance (amazing eBay store that now has a retail location in Austin!)

The Vintage Mobile came to town too for the show! Nice to see you again, Vintage Mobile.

Kim was a little tired after a long afternoon of vintage shopping. Sorry Kim! Have a margarita.

Of course we can't not go to Toy Joy when we are in Austin....we went under the premise of buying gifts for our very small neighbors, but ended up getting lots of plastic animals for ourselves.

Toy Joy also has a bubble tea bar in the back...I love the little kitties on their chalkboard.

We had the great pleasure of staying at the W Hotel in Austin. It made the trip so wonderful--I think we ate at their restaurant Trace every meal! They had the best crab cake ever.

The cozy library at the W.

I have to share this--when we arrived at our room at the W, there was a greeting card personally adressed to Kim. Inside was a warm welcome and a picture of a chihuahua that looked just like Kim. We are going to save this forever and ever. So cute!!

I wish I had some more pictures of what we brought back from the vintage show. I do have to show this 50s fur cardigan and teal dirndl corset that I got from Feathers. I have worn them together for two days straight...

I have to post about the coolest shoe store I've ever been to--definitely one of the highlights Austin had to offer. Check back tomorrow!

KELLY WEARSTLER

We were so excited to recieve these amazing pieces from Kelly Wearstler's newly launched fashion line. I am a huge fan of everything Kelly does. It was like Christmas morning the day these got here! Even the packaging was 100% Kelly's style. We recycled the wrapping paper into a backdrop for these photos. The little black dress I'm wearing above is my favorite piece.

The necklaces look so great layered up. The wrap around cuff is INCREDIBLE!

Wearing the Gypsum jacket. I'm going to Austin this weekend, I will be packing this!

I feel like these few pieces have totally rounded out my wardrobe for fall--they're so perfect and easy. Thank you so much to Kelly for these incredible clothes! I'm packing them all up for a weekend jaunt to Austin. Can't wait!

FROM MY NOTEBOOK

Here are some scans from my cluttered, kind of schizo notebook. Most of the magazine clippings are from 2007. That seems to be where most of my magazine collection dates back to. It was a good year! I like to keep a notebook...it's a good transitional step towards making your ideas happen.

LOOKING GLASS

It's amazing how you can pull out something random and fall in love with it all over again. My mom and I had picked up this sequin tank top at Cheap Thrills in Tulsa, Oklahoma a while back. We were told it was made for a local fashion show in the sixties. I had never tried it on, and I didn't imagine it would be so form-fitting and slinky. I had pulled out this 50's petticoat and was looking for a way to make it go formal. I think this tank top was just the thing.

BLUE PATCH

Wearing one of my favorite things in my closet. Well, it is my mom's jacket but it's been living in mine for the past few weeks. The denim patchwork jacket is Ralph Lauren from spring 2006. It's just incredible! It was inspired by Japanese boro textiles. It was probably our best outlet find ever. Worn with pants from Anthropologie, a 70's Victorian style blouse, and a vest I borrowed from my sister's closet.
