Wearing the most amazing vintage asymmetrical Bill Blass jacket, vintage Elvis tank top given to me by the sweet ladies from Fruition in Las Vegas, vintage belt, Ralph Lauren bandana, vintage clutch from Vintage Martini, beetle and octopus necklaces from our own jewelry line, Current & Elliot jeans, and my beloved new Yves Saint Laurent platforms.

I am a huge, huge Adolfo fan but ironically I do not own any Adolfo hats (Adolfo began as a milliner). My mom was at Vintage Martini with our partner in crime Tina (the Bag Snob) and called me wondering if I'd be interested in a raccoon hat by Adolfo. In my mind's eye it wasn't quite as...intense. But you know what they say here in Texas, go big or go home.

In New York I saw fur hats in this style that were much larger and more dramatic. I couldn't help staring at them like they were big furry fungal growths on their owners heads but it didn't seem to phase New Yorkers.

This hat will keep me warm in the weeks to come...it hasn't gotten above freezing all week here in DFW.

Check out how the right side of the jacket has a velvet lapel and a turned up sleeve, and the left side is plain.

I've gotten some questions about the red lipstick I wear...it's Serge Luten's Votre Sienne. I find most shades of red lipstick too blue for my tastes, and this is a nice brick red color. Plus the tube is really small, great news if you don't usually carry purses (me).

CES in Las Vegas

As I mentioned in a previous post, I was in Vegas to speak on Kodak's K-Zone panel during CES. It was beyond humbling to be on such an esteemed roster of speakers...I spoke along with Elissa, author of the fantastic food blog 17 and Baking, Sachin Patel, founder of Gzmo apps, and Brian Wong, whose accomplishments span far and wide but I'll abbreviate him to founder of mobile gaming company Kiip. Thank you to Leslie Dance our moderator, it was a great discussion! It was wonderful to meet a few readers and new friends while I was there too, thanks for saying hi!

I never thought I'd find myself at the Consumer Electronics Show. Over 140,000 people attended...the sheer amount of faces in the crowd combined with the dazzling electronics booth made it a very dizzying experience. If I was more knowledgeable about gadgets I would have snapped some pictures of new phones and iPad imitations but I wouldn't even know where to begin on that stuff. It was news to me that you can buy TV's with 3D screens.

Wow! What a stage!

Leslie, Sachin Patel, and Brian Wong.

Me and Elissa, the bloggers feeling a little out of place with these nerdy tech guys...just kidding ;)

Check out this mobile Kodak city!

I came to Vegas from NYC....a little contrast in scenery, as you can see.

It was so good to be reunited with long time blog friend Kelly (The Glamourai), we were doing a very exciting project with a couple of other bloggers! Here she is with her baby, AKA Bunny.

Alex (The Cherry Blossom Girl) with Bunny the papillon and an unknown friend!

It's good to be home in Texas...I was actually supposed to go back to NYC this morning, but my flight was cancelled because of all the snow. It ended up being for the better because I've got a disgusting cold.

Back to regular programming for a while! Thank you for reading :)

I fell in love in Vegas....more specifically I fell in love at the Yves Saint Laurent boutique. As soon as these shoes were mine I put them on and left for the airport.  Actually I fell in love twice...I have another version of this shoe being shipped home. They're red and strappy with skinny wrap-around laces.

While I was trying them on a drunk Japanese businessman joined my shoe session and made very loud and enthusiastic exclamations that he wanted a pair too....because he was "Mister America".

At least the shoes took my mind off the crazy people in Vegas, though I guess I'm not in much of a position to be pointing the crazy people finger since I'm the nutcase who got two pairs.

Hi from Vegas! Now that I'm here I wish I had packed the dress I'm wearing--would be very appropriate. My sister took these pictures before I left town.

The leopard dress I'm wearing is vintage Lillie Rubin--it came with a cute scarf that's nice to wear in your hair. Wearing it with a vintage Yves Saint Laurent corset.

I was feeling ambitious in Sephora the other day and picked up the Black pallette...a couple of YouTube tutorials later and I did the smoky eye! Still room for improvement though.

It's been a super long couple of days. I had so much fun with a couple of my favorite bloggers this week in New York being shot by Garance Dore! The real life Garance, I can't believe it. It was amazing!

I have to get ready for Kodak's K-Zone panel now. More than a little nervous about that.

Have a great weekend!

Shoe Years Resolution

Isn't the title of this post soo clever? One of my New Years Resolutions is to live up to my closet. I've fallen into a uniform of dingy grey sweatshirts and polyester dance skirts I pick up at the thrift store. I'm in a rut and I'm disgusted with myself. The nice clothes in my wardrobe aren't getting the circulation they deserve and neither are my shoes. Here are some of the shoes that are going to get the love they deserve in 2011!

These were sent to me by Peter Som, they were a part of a Peter Som x Charlotte Olympia collaboration. They're a little big for me, but doable with socks. And if I can't wear them, my mom will! These shoes deserve to get out.

These Emanuel Ungaro branch heels are amazing, even if they're a little treacherous to walk in. I'm not going to wimp out on these shoes.

The Prada Mohawk Shoes...they look Nordic sea monsters on my feet. I've worn them with tartan wool socks a few times, they're super cute that way.

These Miu Miu spectator pumps may look sweet and harmless but they are actually real toe crunchers. Like I said, I'm gonna pump up my pain tolerance in 2011.

This collection was one my favorites of all time...for shoes and clothes. When I was in Tokyo I saw a girl who had them in purple, wearing them with a crinoline, pedaling down Omotesando.....they looked amazing.

These half-n-half Margielas were a very lucky find at If's boutique sale. They must have been 90% off. Whenever I do wear these they do attract a lot of stares....

So I've resolved to show some of my shoes a little more love in 2011, but I think I should also pay tribute to the shoes that have served me faithfully throughout 2010. Here are some of the shoes that I wore day in and day out over the past year.

The proportions of this Alaia hiking boot have got to be the most eye-pleasing in footwear history, and for some reason white leopard seems to go with everything. I need to take it easy on these beauties or they're going to get filthy....

I love this picture because it looks like my feet are dislocated from my body. Something about this shoe is so animalistic... the pitch of the arch + the elfish point of the black leather is perfect.

Don't your eyes go nuts trying to suck up all of the detail in these Proenza Schoulers?

These Miu Mius have put up with a lot of abuse. I love them for that.

The best perisodactyl shoe design in my closet....it's so great how the platform of this shoe is perfectly rounded like a horse shoe. That's why all of the knock-offs of this shoe failed so miserably, they didn't have the wide hooven bow in the toe. Thank you Ann Demeulemeester for not being afraid to make girls look like horses! This shoe wins the Man Repeller award of 2010....

I've got a lot of packing to do, I'm leaving tomorrow for a photoshoot in New York and then I'm going to Vegas to speak at a Kodak conference. Going to try to live up to my New Years resolution....good luck with your resolutions in the New Year, whatever they may be!
