La Bola de Cristal was a Spanish TV Show that aired on TVE during the 1980s. It was hosted by singer Alaska. The show, which was ostensibly targeted at a young audience, reflected the spirit of the times, that of the post-Franco Spanish transition and of the cultural and musical movement known as la movida. In contrast to previous shows, it had references to electronics: the Electroduendes ("Electrogremlins") puppets included Maese Vídeo, Audio and the Failure Witch.
It also included slogans against authority and capitalism.
Although it was never released on VHS video, in 2003 selected excerpts of the legendary show were released on DVD.
My backing band will now be dubbed 'Failure Witch'.

I grow up with this TV Show and I love it!! :)
I remember that was on the TV every saturday morning, but I was too young to understand the meaning of the show.
Very important spanish artits as Pedro Almodovar, started their careers in this show, and the most interesting spanish bands and musicians, were playing there for the first time. It was something new, fresh, funny and diferent, what french people called ''avantguard''.
I follow your other blog 'Sea of shoes', and I love your outfits, and I'm a fan of your mother style.
So happy that you write about this fantastic TV Show.
Sorry about my english! Adiós.

I'm always stunned about the background you have and the younger you are!
I have to say the same than Mrs. Roper. I grew up with this TV program. It was the time named "la movida" in the early's 80's...
How did you know it?

So amazing that you know of La Bola de Cristal - my husband (from Spain) is always singing this song and one day we sat down and watched a ton of the shows. Amazing stuff came out of Spain during la movida! So impressed!!
